Our vision

It is the passion of excellence that has led us in furbishing the newly opened wine cellar of the Hotel Villa Andrea and guided by the thought of the great American winemaker that every table deserves the joy of good wine, we have completed our gastronomical offer with wine tasting to go with snacks or meals as well as providing our guests with the possibility to purchase some of the best wine sorts. Through expanding our tourist offer to include wine tourism, our vision is to provide our guest with a complete experience of local visual, auditory and sensory images.

Croatian wine has a history that dates back to the arrival of Ancient Greeks and their production of wine on the southern Dalmatian islands of Vis, Hvar and Korcula some 2500 years ago. Much like other old world wine producers, many traditional grape sorts have survived in Croatia perfectly suited to their local wine growing hills. Many larger wine growers have adopted modern production methods and introduction of new laws governing wine production in line with EU standards now guarantee top quality wines. There are two particular regions that grow wine in Croatia. The continental region on the northeast of the country produces rich fruity white wines much like in the neighboring Slovenia, Austria and Hungary. On the north coast, Istrian wines are similar to those produced in neighboring Italy while further south, production is more oriented towards a Mediterranean style of reds. On the Dalmatian coastline and islands, local grape sorts, microclimate and a very rough environment surrounding the vineyards have resulted in some very individual best knows wines of Croatia.
